Local Brand Ambassador: T. Kunene April 19, 2018 – Posted in: Brand Ambassador – Tags: , , , , , ,

This week Localism would like to introduce to you our local brand ambassador and social influencer Thembeka Kunene.

She is a vibrant fashionista and proud Durbanite who is never afraid of new challenges. Being part of our recent T-Shirts For Change Campaign, she is a huge fan of local brands such as Style Closet SA and Denim Palace to name a few. Encouraging shoppers to buy more local is important to her. It’s about supporting your people, country and heritage – knowing and caring about the person who actually made your clothing…

Find out more about Thembeka in our weekly Q&A below.

Localism

Being co-founder of @taya_trendaccess, digital marketer and fashion influencer, how do you do it all?

Whoa is that all me? Nice haha! It’s what I love doing so I don’t really find it hard to balance it out, because all that’s been mentioned is a priority in my life.

What do you love about being a social influencer the most?

The fact that the content I put out is seen by thousands of people. It just makes it more exciting and I’m kind of forced to always put out interesting content, which encourages me a lot.

What makes you a proudly South African?

Just like every South African, my love for braai’d meat lol.

Our history – we’ve come a long way as South Africans and to be living among some legends who contributed to where we are now as a country, is truly amazing.

What’s going to be trending next?

I’d say braids, definitely. They are easy to style, easy going and look so good with nice fun dresses that should probably be trending too.

What’s your favourite outfit?

I’m a jeans and heels type of girl. As simple as it is, I always try to make it look glam and chic.

Favourite quote to live by?

I’ve got 2 actually. “Do your best and God will do the rest” & “Do something today that your future self will thank you for”.

Where is your favourite local spot to hang and find your inspiration?

To hang, it’s quite a few places, just give me good food and great company I’m good.  For inspiration, shhew that’s a hard one – I’m inspired by a lot of things and a lot of people every day. I’m a sucker for good vibes really.

What local brands do you follow?

Quite a few actually but my faves right now – @tshirtsforchangesa and @denimpalace.

What was the biggest challenge when starting your own brand?

My biggest challenge was the capital to actually start the business. I’m very proud of the fact that I actually got it off the ground & I’m just proud that I actually received such a good response from people, I wasn’t too sure at first lol.

Do you have advice for other young entrepreneurs?

If you have an idea, just go for it. It’s not going to be perfect at first but nothing ever is until you master it. I’d advise them to just do their best and leave the rest to God.
